As university application time is nearly here, Ralmed is inviting students in their final school year to take part in our job-shadowing programme. Many students do not have all the information they need when picking what to study at university. This can later result in high university dropout rates. Some students might also be worried about choosing a career in medicine because of wrong ideas about what being a doctor is like. Being part of the job shadowing programme can help students get a true understanding of the work in the field they want to study.
Ralmed is a renowned medical company offering a programme where students can see what real work is like in a specific profession. This job shadowing programme helps students understand what it is like working in the medical field. While doing this, students will be mingling with seasoned medical professionals.
The director of Ralmed, Owen Man-hire mentioned words of encouragement to prospective medical professionals. “I urge the prospective medical professionals to remain steadfast in the pursuit of their aspirations, despite potential obstacles.” Man-hire made reference to a an inspirational story of a medical doctor , Dr Randall Ortel from Manenberg on the Cape Flats who drove a taxi to pay for his medical school tuition fees. “The inspiring aspect of Dr Randall’s journey was the valuable job shadowing experience and mentorship he received from Dr Abdul, a successful medical practitioner in Manenberg,” Man-hire said.
Ralmed offers job shadowing programmes in different areas of medicine such as nursing , medicine, paramedic, occupational therapy and physiotherapy etc. “Before commencing job shadowing, applicants are obliged to read and sign a confidentiality agreement to uphold and respect patient confidentiality at all times. Disclosure of patient names, procedures, or the outcomes of medical procedures to third parties without explicit patient consent is strictly prohibited,” added Man-hire.
